The Agroecology unit develops agroecological production models adapted to the different cultivable climatic zones of sub-Saharan Africa. These models are farm designs capable of producing on a small area without the use of pesticides or fertilizers. The models are tested and improved through a network of pilot farms. Each farm serves as a production, training and research site. The model is a precise plan of the farms in question.
The model in question is adapted to the Highlands Savannah Tropical Climate of sub-saharan Africa, particularly of Ethiopian lower highlands.
